COLD FEET, BURNING HEART
Did you ever wake up with the urge
That something’s gotta change
I did today
So I went and bought some new sheets
Brand new sheets
They were dark green with tiny leaves
I fluffed all my pillows
And went to bed
But I still woke up with cold feet
Despite the summer heat
At least I’ve got new sheets
And a burning heart in between
Did you ever walk away from someone
Without knowing their name
Just feeling regret
Of all the great things that could’ve been said
Should’ve been said
It’s hard to be sure when you lack trust
That someone will really see you
And care enough
For a late night conversation in bed
Not just in your head
If my cold feet could warm up
And I at least asked for your name
If you could also ask for mine
Maybe things could change, just for a bit
At least I’ve got new sheets
And a burning heart in between
In between these new sheets
I’ve got cold feet
And a burning heart
Beating still
Out of pure will
